Old Cottonian Lord Cowdrey of Tonbridge, Michael Colin Cowdrey (1932 - 2000). He was at the heart of cricket for half a century, captained England 27 times, was the first man to play 100 Tests and scored almost 43,000 first-class runs. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1972, a Knight Commander in 1992 and a Life Peer in 1997. Old Cottonian Ricky Kej (Class of '97, Pope House) won a Grammy Award for his album Winds of Samsara, a collaboration with South African flautist Wouter Kellerman. Ricky has composed the soundtrack for 5 Kannada films and is credited with over 3,000 placements for radio and television jingles.
